Friday Fives – July 19.

5 average blood sugars, according to my Dexcom:

1.  90 day average = 168

2.  60 day average = 163

3.  30 day average = 150

2.  10 day average = 144

1.  3 day average =128!!!!!

I think I’m moving in the right direction!  I am so, so happy I bit the bullet and got this tool.   It has made me understand my diabetes and my body so much better.  I am actually excited to get my A1c result next month!!

Happy Friday!

  1. Looks like you are headed in the right direction! I know very little about CGMs and am wondering if that is something that only comes with using a pump? We will be learning more about pumps in the next month and I am anxious and excited about how it change things for my son.

    • Hi Melanie,
It really depends on what device you use. The Medtronic CGM is integrated with a pump, however I’ve heard that it’s not very comfortable to insert and not quite as accurate as the Dexcom. I use the Dexcom G4 Platinum CGM which is a totally separate device than my pump (Animas Ping). When I started it, I was on MDI, so you can absolutely use it w/out a pump. I love it.
Eventually the Dexcom and Animas will be integrated so you don’t have to carry around two devices, which is why I went with this combo. The Dexcom is pretty accurate and very user friendly. Good luck! Any questions, feel free to email!

  2. Yay! Great job 🙂 That’s awesome you Dexcom does 60 AND 90 day averages…I don’t think my CGM does any haha, but my test kit does 7, 14 and 30 day averages which I love checking. Keep up the great work!!
