About Me
I am a 32 year old woman with Type 1 Diabetes. Diagnosed at 18. Newlywed. Wanna-be Mommy. I love spending time with my friends and family, kickboxing, reading, movies… normal stuff. I try not to let Diabetes run my life – an endless battle of balance.
About my a1-Conceive Project
Being a newlywed, the question has started – “When are you going to have a baby?”. Given my age (but I feel like I just graduated college!) and health, The Husband and I know this isn’t something we can drag our feet on. We’ve started “a year of getting healthy for a baby”, where we are both trying to be in our best health possible before we start trying to conceive. For me, this means losing weight, becoming more active AND getting my a1Cs to a happy place. Easy enough, right? For him, this means losing weight, becoming more active, learning how to do the laundry, and where the supermarket is. Follow along as I go through my pre-baby prep – the good, the bad, the ugly!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I hope you are doing well with your adventures with diabetes and the rest of your life.

I found your blog from DBlog week and I’m so happy. I am in the same exact point in my life as you! My husband and I got married 2 years ago and are ready to start trying to conceive also but I need to get my A1C below seven before starting. It’s such a hard thing to do but I’m trying everyday to get my blood sugars in control. Good luck to you and I look forward to reading more articles about your journey!
To you too as well, Kelley! We can do this and have adorable healthy babies! 🙂
You CAN do it. I had many of the same obstacles when I got married (at 35!) and through a lot of fertility treatments, IVF, stress, weight issues, etc, we ended up with a beautiful and healthy little girl. I thought it would NEVER happen, but it did. Have faith, keep on working on it, and you’ll get through it! And we will all help you in whatever ways we can 🙂
I too am a type 1 diabetic, 31 years old and dx about a year and a half ago with an A1C at that point over 10. I’m now 12 weeks pregnant with my last A1C of 6.0. You can do it! I wish you all the best on your journey! Love your blog name! You can find me as I blog about my pregnancy @ http://www.pumpedtobeamother.wordpress.com
Thanks so much! I’ve added your blog to my reader! :o) Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy!
